2 Guys, 1 Brain

recommended by Jachelle
A podcast from the other side of the law! Hosted by two jailers, Andy and Randy, the 2G1B show is one of my absolute favorites. The guys talk about life, the news, and share jailer stories. I love listening to their take on the world, and hearing about all the strange things that their inmates are capable of. Plus, they always have me cracking up. Being a female college student I have little to no experience with things like guns and tasers and criminal activity (outside of Leverage), and the 2 guys have really broadened my opinions on such things by providing a point of view that I normally wouldn't consider. They're both very funny and charming, and I love their theme song. ;)

Chicken Pop Pod

I thought I was pretty pop-culture savvy, but the CPP crew puts me to shame. A retro pop-culture comedy podcast, they talk about any/everything pop-culture, from the Smurfs to Star Wars. The guys put together a great show that is always funny and entertaining. It's one of those shows where I find myself yelling things out because I get so involved in their discussions. It's also one of the rare podcasts where I download and keep every freaking episode they release because I love going back and relistening to them.

The MannersCast

I imagine a lot of people look at me funny when I mention that a podcast devoted to manners is one of my favorite shows, but if you give the show a listen, I think you'll see why. The guys are all very funny and have lots of advice for manners in any kind of situation from riding in an elevator to going to sporting events. And one of the best things about the show is the community they've created with their listeners. They interact with us Mannerscastians constantly. Whether it's through emailed questions and stories, twitter, facebook, or the live chats while they record. It's a lot of fun, and the only other show where I keep all the past episodes for re-listening.

Teknikal Diffikulties

I think it's becoming pretty apparent that I like podcasts with a bit of humor to them. And TekDiff is no exception. It's a sketch comedy podcast that is written, performed, and produced by the hilarious (and sometimes just plain crazy) Cayenne Chris Conroy. His humor is a little bit goofy, off the wall, and self-depreciating. My favorite kind! Sometimes the jokes are just silly, and other times he'll use his humor to make a bigger statement about something. And intermingled with the episodes of TekDiff are installments of "The Account." A serial following Hanover Phillips, who was just a regular guy until his company sent him out on a quest. Now his life is filled with angels, magic, multiple life threatening situations, and sassy goblin sidekicks. They're both fantastic shows, and I can't recommend them enough.

The Absolute Peach

Ben and Joe are a bit like The Odd Couple. But unlike Oscar and Felix, they're in the U.K...and are lot more likely to broadcast their thoughts on an internet radio show called The Absolute Peach. Discussions, news, tangents, excessive sarcasm, Chav Watch, Joe Cuisine, laughter, energy drinks, TAP has it all. It's a bizarre combination, but somehow the boys make it work.

The Moth Podcast

I'm an avid reader. One of my favorite things to do is get lost in a story. The Moth is an organization dedicated to sharing stories. At events all over the country, people climb up onto The Moth's stage and tell true stories from their lives, live and without notes. Once a week, they release a podcast filled with some of their best ones. Funny, poignant, bizarre, heartbreaking...the stories are told by people from all walks of life about any number of subjects. They'll also stick with you for a long time.
